Breaking: FIFA lifts TS Galaxy transfer ban

SABC Sport can confirm that TS Galaxy are now free to register new players after FIFA officially lifted their transfer ban.

The confirmation came this morning from Zurich, following months of back-and-forth between the world governing body and the Mpumalanga-based club.

Chairman Tim Sukazi revealed the sanction stemmed from a dispute with Portuguese third-tier side Amora FC over development compensation for midfielder Mlungisi Zwane, who joined Galaxy in 2023 but made only one appearance.

“The claim was logged by Amora FC, who demanded a development fee for Zwane,” Sukazi explained. “

We had to pay USD 13,000 [about R229,000] plus a fine of 2,000 Swiss Francs [around R43,000]. Although we made the payment, FIFA insisted it be done through the Clearing House system, leading to delays as we initially paid the club directly.”

The clearance comes just hours before Galaxy face Siwelele in a Betway Premiership clash at Mbombela Stadium tonight.

The Rockets signed eight new players at the start of the season but were unable to register them due to the sanction, forcing coach Adnan Beganovic to work with a depleted squad and sometimes name only 14 players on matchday.

With the ban now lifted, Galaxy can finally bolster their options for the remainder of the campaign.
