Brandon Truter backtracks on Sekhukhune United resignation comments

Just a week after making a comment that he was ready to resign as Sekhukhune United coach, Brandon Truter has defended that he was quoted out of context.

Following their 1-0 loss to Golden Arrows in a DStv Premiership fixture at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane last week, an upset Truter told the media after the game that he was considering his future.

Despite qualifying for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup, results in the domestic league have not been favourable for Babina Noko, who have now gone three matches without a win.

But Truter maintains the threats of resignation are not there anymore.

"Look, I think it was taken a bit out of context. I think all coaches go through that in their coaching careers, along the way somehow. It's been a very tough two weeks leading up to that game. We have not visited our family, we've been traveling all over Africa, Congo. Coming back as well, different time zones. Especially with the results as well, given such short periods to calm down after games," Truter said.

But SABC Sport understands that Truter has, for some time now, held concerns around some of the operations around the team, with allegations of interference as well, which may have led to last week’s outburst.

But the former Moroka Swallows and AmaZulu mentor insists it’s all water under the bridge as everything has since been ironed out with the club’s hierarchy.

"Ya, a bit of speaking from an emotional point of view, that's what happened but management and myself, we are okay with it. We understand fully where it came from, no malicious intent," Truter explained.

Sekhukhune have been pitted against Royal AM in the first round of the new Caring Knockout tournament, which is expected to kick off next weekend.
