Bjorn Fortuin taking confidence from Namibia into Aussie series

Fortuin led the team to a 3-0 victory in Windhoek in the absence of regular skipper Temba Bavuma.

He will convene with the rest of the squad ahead of the Aussie matches this coming Saturday, and says the performances in the last few weeks will also boost those heading back into domestic cricket.

"Confidence is the most important thing in cricket, and as a captain all you ask for is for guys to feel confident in their own skin and their own ability. I'm really pleased for the guys heading into that series with a lot of confidence."

While some of the regulars were rested by coach Shukri Conrad, Fortuin believes time spent off the field is exactly what they needed heading into such a big assignment at home. 

The likes of Bavuma, Aiden Markram, Keshav Maharaj, Ryan Rickelton, Lungi Ngidi, and Quinton de Kock return to the side, while Ottneil Baartman has been replaced by Duan Jansen following a hamstring injury in the 1st Class Series.

The DP World Lions player says the Namibia tour was also important for their bowling unit, and helped them get out of their comfort zone to meet the demands of international cricket. 

"We had a lot of young bowlers bowling in unfamiliar conditions and bowling at batters who are used to these conditions, so having them step outside of their comfort zone and adding a new layer to their game was the most pleasing thing to see."
