The club and Gavi's team have agreed to press ahead with conservative treatment for the time being, while weighing up all options.
On Friday, Gavi underwent a medical check at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, accompanied by family and agent. The evaluation confirmed ongoing discomfort, so Barcelona have elected to extend non-surgical treatment for another week.
He already missed the recent La Liga match versus Rayo Vallecano because of the issue, and surgery remains under consideration only if symptoms do not improve.
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente described Gavi as "sad and awaiting possible surgery," following discussions with the player, stressing both his emotional state and the seriousness of the decision facing him.
Barcelona's medical staff hope that, if the pain subsides and conservative treatment works, Gavi could reach full fitness after the October international break, or possibly sooner.
But if the discomfort remains, arthroscopic surgery could become necessary, which would likely sideline him for around five to six weeks.
For now, club sources say patience is the priority: they would rather risk delaying his return than jeopardising his long-term health.
