Zenay Jordaan hails team unity as Bulls Daisies extend Women’s Super League dominance

Bulls Daisies co-coach Zenay Jordaan has praised her players for fully embracing the technical team’s vision, which led the team to securing its fourth consecutive Women’s Super League title.

The Daisies sealed their triumph with a convincing 36–15 victory over Boland Dames at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Jordaan also credited the broader management team for playing a vital role in the squad’s success, particularly in making key decisions throughout the campaign.

“It is an unbelievable feeling, and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to coach such amazing players. What set us apart this year was the collective team effort - the players buying into a new style of play and trusting us as female coaches.

“I also need to give credit to the rest of the management team, because they played an important role in every approach we took week in and week out, especially when crucial decisions had to be made,” said Jordaan.

Jordaan partnered with coach Bongiwe Nhleko for the first time last season, forming an all-female coaching leadership. Reflecting on the campaign, in which the team registered a perfect eight wins from eight matches, she described the journey as deeply rewarding.

“As a coach, it was nothing short of gratitude. Yes, we faced challenges and had to move away from certain old habits, but what stood out was the players’ willingness to show up every day and remain coachable.

“As female coaches, we were also aware of the doubts when we stepped into these roles - there were questions about whether the team could succeed under our leadership. We understood that, because it was new for many people. We remained humble in our approach and focused on what we needed to do to keep building the team’s success,” added Jordaan.

Jordaan also reflected on the final against Boland, acknowledging the intensity of the encounter.

“The final was tough, as expected. We had good attacking moments where we could have kept the scoreboard ticking, but we didn’t capitalise fully. However, defensively we were outstanding, and the players showed real character and heart.

“Credit to Boland as well - they fought until the final whistle. As coaches and management, we are extremely proud of our players. It was especially pleasing to see some of our younger players step up and deliver strong performances during the league,” she depressed.
