The Bok Women will look to maintain their winning momentum, after starting the tournament on a high with a dominant 66-6 bonus-point win over Brazil to lead Pool D with five points.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Jordaan says their first win was important to set the tone, and they now aim to maintain that standard going into the coming matches.
“I am happy the players have bought into the plan for Sunday’s clash against Italy. They are showing great character and they look very competitive,” said Jordaan.
“That is what we are going to require when we face Italy. I am happy that they want to maintain their positive attitude after starting well and setting the tone.”
Jordaan was impressed with the team’s brilliant start to the tournament, which she believes is a confidence booster going into the second game.
“It was a great start, and a well deserved win, the ladies had to work for it. I believe it gave the players the confidence they need going into the match against Italy,’’ added Jordaan.
The 34-year-old former Bok flyhalf also expressed excitement at returning to the World Cup stage as part of the technical team, having retired and played her last World Cup in 2022.
“The coaches have laid out a great plan behind the scenes and it has been a pleasure for me to witness. I am happy to be back, but in a different capacity, and it means a lot of learning for me while I serve my country,’’ she concluded.
