We have a bit of soul searching to do, says Sharks coach John Plumtree

Sharks head coach John Plumtree cut a forlorn figure as he fronted up to the media in the wake of yet another loss.

The Durban franchise has recorded just one win in seven rounds of the United Rugby Championship this season. With the return of many Springboks for the Bulls clash this past Saturday, it was thought the Sharks could put up a fight in Pretoria.

However, after slumping to a 44-10 defeat despite running out 14 Boks, there is clearly much work to be done.

"We have to do a bit of soul-searching as well, mentally," said Plumtree, as per Rugby365.

"It is going to be a pretty ugly review on Monday and the players will have to look at how we are going to respond. The mirror might be a good place for the boys to start and after that, we will see what we do on Monday."

Plumtree heaped praise on the Bulls for showing off their skills as a cohesive unit, with staunch defence up front creating counter-attacking opportunities out wide.

"Clearly, we are still not a team yet," reflected the Kiwi.

"There are a lot of individuals in this team that didn't turn up and that is not good enough. It looked like there were some pretty rusty players out there - not just the ones I have had all along [in Durban], but some that have returned from France."

The Sharks now turn their attention to the European Challenge Cup, where they host French hopefuls Pau at Kings Park on Saturday.
