URC: Sharks record first win of the season after beating Scarlets at Kings Park

The Sharks recorded their first win in this season's United Rugby Championship campaign after a 29-19 victory against Scarlets at Kings Park.

Following three defeats and a draw, the Sharks scored four tries to the visitors' three to seal maximum points from the contest.

The South Africa side made a fast start when flanker Vincent Tshituka scored a try but the Welsh outfit responded through Springbok hooker Marnus van der Merwe.

The Sharks though scored their second try when Emmanuel Tshituka joined his brother on the score sheet.

Scarlets fullback Blair Murray hit back for the visitors but the hosts again found a try through prop Lee-Marvin Mazibuko to take a 19-14 lead at halftime.

The see-saw battle continued after the interval when Tom Rogers scored for Scarlets to level the scores but Springbok captain Siya Kolisi crossed for a bonus-point try for the Sharks.

Jean Smith then slotted a penalty to give the home side a 10-point cushion and the score remained until the final whistle.

It was a fourth consecutive defeat for the Scarlets, who face an uncertain future after the Welsh Rugby Union's decision to cut a URC club.
