Sharks coach John Plumtree left disappointed by Dragons' draw

Sharks boss John Plumtree was left wallowing in the mire following a 17-all draw with the Dragons in the second round of the United Rugby Championship on Friday.

With Storm Amy wreaking havoc on the UK's west coast, it was a war of attrition in dour conditions in Newport. Nonetheless, the Dragons have been the whipping boys of the URC and the Sharks would have expected to get a result regardless of the trying conditions.

But the plucky Welsh outfit were resolute in defence as they held out against a sloppy Sharks team to grind out a draw. The result drew the ire of Plumtree, who thought his side would get just reward for their forward dominance.

"I'm a little disappointed with the result because I thought we had scrum dominance and were able to relieve pressure with our scrum and create pressure," Plumtree told the press.

"So, not getting the result is really disappointing.

"I am proud of the boys and the way they held on at the end under pressure defensively. But again, disappointed because we conceded one or two pretty soft tries.

"We sort of feel a little bit let down that we didn't finish the job, but anyway, we move on to the next one."

It doesn't get easier for the Sharks, as they travel north to Dublin to face defending URC champions Leinster on Saturday.
