Bok lock Jean Kleyn suffers injury, ruled out for rest of the season

Springbok lock Jean Kleyn won't play again this season after opting to undergo knee surgery while he waits for a lingering eye injury to recover.

According to Munster, Kleyn's season is effectively over due to his eye issue being "slow to recover" and his decision to get knee surgery during this time.

The World Cup winner has been sidelined since November 25 last year after sustaining an injury to his eye while playing against Leinster in the United Rugby Championship (URC).

The news will no doubt concern South Africa boss Rassie Erasmus, and is also a big blow for Munster, who recently had to let another Springbok lock, RG Snyman, go after Kleyn regained his status as an international player, forcing the Irish outfit to choose between the two second-rowers.

Snyman is also currently out of action with a shoulder injury sustained during South Africa's World Cup final against the All Blacks.

Munster currently sit in 10th spot in the URC standings after a tough start to the campaign.
