‘There’s still belief’ - Wilco Louw fires Bok warning ahead of second All Blacks Test

Rugby's Greatest Rivalry heads to the Mother City for a second of four Tests between the world's top-ranked rugby nations. The visitors are buoyant in the wake of their 33-16 win at Ellis Park last week, but the road ahead is long and fraught with Bok muscle.

There were major warning signs for the All Blacks at scrum time at Ellis Park. The might Bok forward pack often sent the All Blacks into reverse gear, even on their own feed. Despite this, the Boks were unable to convert the pressure into points.

The 145kg Louw - nicknamed Quadzilla - together with fellow top scrummager Ox Nche was a key part of laying waste to the All Blacks scrum.

"We have a proud scrum culture and so do the All Blacks," the 32-year-old told the press this week.

"We had our wins and they had theirs, but our scrum isn't about one guy - it's about the whole pack. The scrum is only one part of the game. We just need to use our opportunities better.

"I don't think there's a nation that says they want to make the game slow. I thought it was well paced. It wasn't too quick or too slow, and I don't think anyone tried to do anything funny."

While the loss has many fans reeling, the series is long. The All Blacks have already called up several replacements from the other side of the world. But the problem in the front row will likely remain. Louw is acutely aware of this.

"It's a four-match series and we get another opportunity this week," continued the Bulls behemoth.

"There's still belief in this team. We know we can be better and we have to take our opportunities."
