South African Hockey has announced a 20-player Men’s hockey squad that will represent the nation at the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup in Netherlands and Belgium from 15-30 August.

The Squad blends experience with young talent, spearheaded by captain Dayaan Cassiem, who boasts 99 appearances for the national team with the Mitchells Plain-born forward set to make a century of appearances at the World Cup.

Some of the other experienced players selected are Mustapha Cassiem, Sam Mvimbi and Andrew Hobson.

The World Cup will also provide a strong test for rookies such as Kenton Melville, Brendan du Toit, Damian Knott and Jared Cass.

Melville was a star at the recently concluded five-match series against Malaysia which South Africa secured 3-0. In the Proteas 5-2 victory in the final test at Riverside Hockey Club, the 22-year-old scored a hat-trick.
