The Fireballs have been dominant on court to start their 2025 TNL campaign, securing three straight convincing wins at the Sun City Superbowl - having clinched a 71-35 win in their opener against the Limpopo Baobabs, followed by 61-40 win over Zambezi Eagles and a 68-35 over the Baby Proteas on Sunday night.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Jordaan believes the team’s consistency over the past three years has set them apart.
“Yeah, you know, we’ve been good actually throughout here and there, the last semi-final we had in 2023 and 2024, we lost by one and two goals so it was pretty close. 2023 was the World Cup year, Bongi was thinking of retiring. So, there was a whole other dynamic,” Jordaan said.
“So, I think this team has been performing for the last three years and at the moment it’s just fantastic to see, it’s almost like raising babies and now seeing now that they are into adulthood and now they can man up and just play some beautiful netball.
“As a coach, I mean, I’m extremely proud of how far we came with this team and these players, they are true Fireballs and I’m so proud of them.”
Jordaan highlights some positives taken from the match against the Baby Proteas.
“We ran everybody, we tested some combinations, we know by now who can start, who can come in. Our centre pass conversion rate was much better and the hard work that we did on defence by creating some turn over ball, we rewarded our defence by scoring,” she added.
“Which is very important for us. I thought that third quarter in the last game was fantastic, we scored 22 goals and that’s the transition that we are looking for when we inject new energy and new speed into the game. So, as coaches we are very happy at the moment.”
The Gauteng side beefed up their technical squad by adding one of their most successful former captains, Bongiwe Msomi. Jordaan says she is excited to work side by side with Msomi as an assistant, adding that their coaching styles complement each other.
