Tennis South Africa is facing challenges in securing a new CEO

Tennis South Africa has faced challenges in securing a new CEO - expected to be Andre Homan’s successor, since his departure a year and a half ago.

Gavin Crookes, the President of TSA, has taken on dual responsibilities as CEO and President of the organization.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Crookes expressed TSA’s commitment to finding a qualified successor, noting that while two promising candidates have been considered, their appointment did not come to fruition.

''The fact is that - it has been a challenge to find the right person. We have been close twice but the candidates have both stepped back,'' said Crookes.

Crookes told the national broadcaster that, after a board meeting, there is a contemplation about halting the CEO search and shifting focus to recruiting a Chief Operating Officer instead.

''We need to strategise as a board regarding the way forward. Do we not perhaps start searching for a COO instead of a CEO and maybe outsource the event management side of our business,'' added  Crookes.

Crookes declined to speculate on whether the search process for the CEO or COO might extend for a year or more before revealing the new hire.

However, he confirmed there’s no urgency in finding a replacement for Homan, as the organization is currently satisfactorily without one.
