Pitso Mosimane delighted with honorary doctorate from UJ

Coach Pitso Mosimane says he is thrilled by the University of Johannesburg’s decision to award him with an honorary doctorate this week.

The accolade coincides with the former Bafana Bafana mentor turning 60 in July, and it’s expected a ceremony will be held in July.

Mosimane, currently the coach of Abha FC in Saudi Arabia, reacted to the news.

''I'm grateful to the University of Johannesburg for choosing to recognise and celebrate my career in such a way. I have and will always be a student for the beautiful game. I have won many trophies and awards in my career,'' said Mosimane.

Mosimane adds that the recognition is beyond his wildest dreams.

''I never thought that an Honorary Doctorate was within my reach as a football person, I am thankful to the leadership at the University of Johannesburg for this recognition,'' added Mosimane.

The coach also took the opportunity to credit those who’ve played a crucial role in making him the public figure he is today.

''This achievement would not be possible without those who have contributed to my journey, including my players, coaches, football administrators, the media and my supporters. I am humbled,'' he concluded.
