Usuthu live to fight another day as Citizens suffer Nedbank Cup heartbreak

AmaZulu survived a potential shock Nedbank Cup exit as they ran out 3-2 winners over ABC Motsepe League side Tornado FC in their last 32 tie on Sunday.

Usuthu raced into a three-goal lead with goals from Mbongeni Gumede (8'), Gabadinho Mhango (25'), Bongi Ntuli (63') but where pegged back when their lower league opponents pulled two goals back, through Mario Katz and Kenneth Dupane on 78 and 80 minutes.

It was a tense final few minutes, but the DStv Premiership side held on for the win.

ABC Motsepe Foundation leaders Casric Stars, meanwhile, had no problems seeing of ABC Motsepe team Mkhambathi 4-0 with goals from Kgomotso Mosadi (9' Pen, 30'), Mumuni Abubakar (24') and Siyabonga Nkosi (50')

TS Galaxy ended Amavarara's cup hopes with a comfortable 2-0 win with first-half strikes from Sphiwe Mahlangu (41') and Masilake Phohlongp (45'), as Royal AM overcame top-flight rivals Cape Town City 4-3 on penalties after their knockout tie ended 0-0 after extra-time.

Lorenzo Gordinho and Khanyisa Mayo missed from the spot for City.
