Sundowns see off Galaxy to continue stroll towards another PSL title

The Mamelodi Sundowns train continued to roll along smoothly as they notched up a 13th consecutive league win, beating TS Galaxy 2-1 at the Mbombela stadium on Tuesday.

Rushine De Reuck opened the scoring in the first half before Peter Shalulile hit the back of the net after the interval as Masandawana went a whopping 19 points clear at the top of the table.

Djakaridja Traore scored a consolation from the penalty spot deep into stoppage-time for Galaxy's first goal in five matches.

It was the five-time defending champions that started brightly and they took the lead in the 11th minute when De Reuck powered in a header from a corner.

The defender unfortunately had a clash of heads while scoring and was replaced by Brian Mandela after lengthy treatment.

Sundowns could not add to their tally before the halftime break while Galaxy failed to break down a stubborn defence from the visitors.

Masandawana did though double their advantage on the scoreboard just past the hour mark when a fine passing move saw forward Shalulile get the final touch.

Gaston Sirino spurned a golden opportunity for a third goal late in the match when the attacking midfielder completely missed the ball with the goal at his mercy.

Galaxy tried hard to get back n the game and were rewarded late on when Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango brought down Orebotse Mongae and Traore made no mistake converting the penalty.
