Wolvaardt was speaking after a comprehensive 4-1 series win over the visitors, which saw her named the Player of the Series yesterday.
While South Africa often needed rescuing from the lower order in previous matches, Wolvaardt was happy with the top order within the first six overs of their matches, something that will stand them in good stead at the upcoming T20 World Cup.
"I'm very happy with our power play batting, I'm very happy with how much intent we've shown up top. I think all five of the power plays were pretty good and it's something in the past we've perhaps not been the best at,” Wolvaardt said.
“We've sort of been the slow starters and had massive finishes with Chloe [Tryon], Nadine [de Klerk], Kayla [Reyneke] all coming at the end so very happy with how we've started this series. I think it puts us in good positions and I'm happy with how our bowling is coming along.
“I think New Zealand we've had a tough time bowling and it's been really nice seeing that changed this series."
In the same breath Wolvaardt expressed concern with their below par fielding, which has stuck out like a sore thumb over the entire summer.
She says they have to work on making use of the chances they create before heading to England in June.
"Probably just taking our catches, I think every game there's been a catch or two going down, which is a little bit frustrating because I think we've created a lot of chances but haven't necessarily taken them,” she added.
“I think it's been pretty good overall, I think we'll have to sit down and look at the numbers deeper to see the different phases and everything but yeah, just top of my mind for me, the catching."
