Karabo Meso believes ODI series against Pakistan will be key to work on individual performances

Proteas Women Wicketkeeper-batter Karabo Meso says that the upcoming One Day International series against Pakistan will be key to help the team fine tune on individual performances ahead of the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

The three-day ODI series between South Africa and Pakistan will take place on 16, 19 and 22 September - and forms part of their World Cup preparation.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Meso believes some good individual performances from her teammates will help the Proteas build confidence with just a few days before the World Cup kicks off.

"I would say just good performance individually, I think also it will help as a team, you know people performing individually will also help the team to be proper on the field and nothing much, just that, just individual performance and everything will just follow in the team," Meso said.

Meso will be making her ODI World Cup debut in green and gold at only 17. She says it is a dream come true and didn’t imagine it coming this soon.

"Obviously not really, like I always say you know I imagined my debut in the next six years but luckily my hard work paid off and now I'm here. It's a really great honour to be here at a young age, someone like Suné [Luus] they've been here at a young age and it shows that hard work pays off,” she added.

“Obviously, my career is just getting there, experience wise, being part of the team helps me get more experience and just be at my best."
