Chasing a daunting 230, CSK folded for just 140 in 13.4 overs, confirming their elimination from playoff contention while GT strengthened their position near the top of the table.
GT's Explosive Batting Sets Up the Win
After CSK won the toss and elected to bowl, GT's openers laid a blistering foundation. Skipper Shubman Gill (64 off 37, 7 fours, 3 sixes) and Sai Sudharsan (84 off 53, 7 fours, 4 sixes) forged a 125-run opening stand that took the game away early. Gill brought up a rapid fifty off just 23 balls, showcasing his trademark timing and power.
Jos Buttler then unleashed a destructive unbeaten 57 off 27 deliveries (5 fours, 4 sixes), accelerating the innings in the death overs. Despite losing a couple of late wickets - including a run-out and Washington Sundar's quickfire 7 - GT posted an imposing 229/4. The total was built on aggressive intent and clean striking, with extras adding 17 valuable runs.
CSK's Chase Collapses SpectacularlyCSK's reply got off to a nightmare start. Mohammed Siraj struck with the very first ball, dismissing Sanju Samson for a golden duck. He followed up by castling captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (16 off 7) and removing Urvil Patel shortly after, finishing with impressive figures of 3/26 in 3 overs.
Kagiso Rabada (3/32) and Rashid Khan (3/18) then ripped through the middle order. While Shivam Dube provided some resistance with a fiery 47 off 17 (4 fours, 4 sixes), it was never enough. CSK lost wickets in clusters and were bundled out well inside 14 overs. Rashid's variations and Rabada's pace proved too much on a surface that offered good carry.
This result highlights GT's balance and depth, with their bowling attack adapting perfectly to defend a big total. For CSK, it's a disappointing end to their campaign, despite flashes of aggression from Dube and others. GT now look well-placed for a strong playoff push.
