Delhi Capitals chase down record 210 in Dharamsala

The Delhi Capitals kept their Indian Premier League hopes alive when they chased down a record 210 in their clash with the Punjab Kings on Monday night.

PK started aggressively and thought they had done enough despite leaving a few runs at the foot of the Himalayas, but DC had contributions throughout to get them over the line for a three-wicket win with six balls to spare.

In the chase, DC were under the pump early. Both openers were back in the hut early, and they were in further trouble when Arshdeep Singh dismissed Sahil Parakh, leaving them 33/3 in the fifth.

And when big gun Tristan Stubbs was run out for 12, the task looked monumental, needing 137 from the last 70 balls.

The counterpunch came from captain Axar Patel and David Miller. They kept DC in the hunt with a pair of 50s, then Ashutosh Sharma (24 off 10 balls) batted brilliantly with the tail to take them to the watershed victory.

Earlier, Punjab Kings' openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh put Mitchell Starc and Lungi Ngidi to the sword. The pair needed just three overs to reach 51 runs and pressed on until Mukesth Kumar finally got the breakthrough in the seventh over, dismissing Singh at 78/1.

Arya (56 off 33) skewed on off Madhav Tiwari's bowling and then captain Shreyas Iyer got down to work with Cooper Connolly. The pair combined for 83 runs off the next 52 balls before the latter perished for 38, PK now 180/3.

DC's death bowling stopped PK's total from getting out of hand, keeping them to 210 with Starc grabbing two late wickets to stem the flow.
