David Miller admits frustration after being dropped from Delhi Capitals line-up

David Miller admits he is frustrated after being dropped from the Delhi Capitals line-up but understands the structure that IPL teams face choosing from the overseas contingent.

Miller has been on the bench for the Capitals' last two matches following the return of Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc, and with them having to fit four overseas players into the XI.

Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka has been preferred at the top of the order while Starc has been paired up with Proteas seamer Lungi Ngidi in the bowling department.

Miller is essentially competing with international teammate Tristan Stubbs for a middle-order berth with the latter getting the nod in the last two games.

On of the most celebrated T20 batters in world cricket, the 36-year-old Miller has been a regular with different teams in the IPL since 2012.

"You always want to play every game, but such is the IPL, the structure of it with only four overseas (players in the XI), the combinations become really important for the team," Miller said.

"So I have been around. This is not my first IPL, so I kind of understand the make-up, and [it is] just really to give positive feedback to the rest of the squad, always being positive and give what I can towards the team remains really important for me.

"And then just waiting for my opportunity to come again - if it does come around for the rest of the season or not, I just want to remain ready, prepare really well, that is what us players like to do."

The Capitals have suffered six defeats from 10 matches this campaign and are still searching for the performance that could give them momentum towards the closing stages of the tournament.

Miller added: "It is four from four - we pretty much need to win (every game) now. We have to win four from four to have a chance of qualifying, so it becomes really important.

"We have definitely debriefed and spoken about a few things. I do not think we have been playing bad cricket at all. We have been playing really good cricket, but there are just moments in the game where we have kind of let ourselves down as a team in certain areas."
