Wolves snap up rising star Fer Lopez from Celta Vigo

Wolves have completed the signing of promising Spanish forward Fer Lopez from Celta Vigo for a reported 19 million pounds, marking their first acquisition of the transfer window.

The 21-year-old has penned a five-year deal at Molineux and arrives following a breakthrough season in La Liga, where he scored four goals in 20 appearances for Celta Vigo after making his senior debut in October 2024.

"It's an amazing opportunity for my career to play in the Premier League and I'm very happy," Lopez told Wolves' official website. "When a club like this comes in, you don't have to think too much."

The left-footed attacker expressed confidence in Wolves manager Vitor Pereira, whose impact since arriving last season has turned heads.

"The team did very good when Vitor came and I think he is top. I'm very excited to be with him," Lopez added.

Lopez has prior links to England, having briefly studied in Suffolk in 2018 and trained with Norwich City's academy before returning to Spain to join Celta's youth setup at age 10.

He played a key role in helping Celta Vigo secure a seventh-place finish in La Liga in 2024â-25, earning the club a place in European competition.

"I cannot explain it in words - it was everything I dreamed of," he said of his first season. "I played at the Bernabeu, Camp Nou, and Wanda Metropolitano - now I want to experience the same atmospheres, but in England."

Lopez's arrival comes as Wolves reshape their squad ahead of the new campaign. The club has sold key players Matheus Cunha to Manchester United for 62.5 million pounds and Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City for 31 million pounds.

With funds reinvested and a young, ambitious forward secured, Wolves appear to be backing Pereira's vision as they look to push for a top-half finish in 2025â-26.
