William Saliba, two other Arsenal stars back in training ahead of Leverkusen tie

Arsenal have received a timely injury boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 trip to face Bayer Leverkusen, with several key players returning to training on Tuesday.

Defender William Saliba was among those spotted taking part in the session at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, offering a significant lift for Mikel Arteta's side.

The centre-back had missed successive matches against Brighton and Mansfield Town after sustaining an ankle injury during a recent victory over Chelsea.

Leandro Trossard and Riccardo Calafiori were also involved in the slightly delayed training session, which was open to the media. Both players had started Arsenal's FA Cup fifth-round win over Mansfield on Saturday before being forced off with minor issues.

Trossard left the pitch late in the first half after picking up what was described as a "little niggle", while Calafiori was substituted with just under 15 minutes remaining with a similar problem.

Arsenal were scheduled to travel to Germany later on Tuesday, with manager Mikel Arteta set to address the media at a pre-match press conference at 6pm GMT.

However, not all the news from training was positive. Captain Martin Ødegaard did not participate and is expected to miss the first leg as he continues to recover from a lingering knee issue.

The midfielder last appeared as a substitute, providing an assist in the north London derby win over Tottenham, and Norway manager Ståle Solbakken has suggested he may not return for Arsenal until late March.

Defender Ben White is also doubtful for the trip. White did not train on Tuesday due to an unspecified knock and has been unavailable since Arsenal's FA Cup fourth-round victory over Wigan.
