West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo on Wolves humbling: 'Worst loss of my career'

The Hammers were beaten convincingly by a Wolves team without a league win all season, conceding three first-half goals at Molineux and extending their winless run to nine matches. Jhon Arias scored in the fourth minute, before Hwang Hee-chan converted a penalty and 18-year-old Mateus Mane struck from the edge of the area to put the contest beyond doubt before the break.

West Ham offered little resistance and failed to register a single shot on target, allowing Wolves to keep their first clean sheet of the campaign. The result lifted Wolves from the bottom of the table and provided head coach Rob Edwards with his first league victory in nine games.

After the match, Nuno apologised to supporters and labelled the performance "embarrassing", saying his players made repeated mistakes and did not respond effectively to setbacks. He admitted the team lacked control and failed to create any attacking threat.

The defeat leaves West Ham 18th in the table with 14 points from 20 matches. Nuno, who was appointed in September following the departure of Graham Potter, said attention must remain on improving performances and collecting points rather than speculation over his future.

Wolves built on the momentum of their midweek draw at Manchester United with a dominant first-half display. Edwards said the win brought a sense of relief but warned it was only a single step forward.

West Ham host Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, with the visitors currently four points clear of the relegation zone.
