We have three offers for Fleurs - Matthews

SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has revealed that the club is open to selling Bafana Bafana and former junior international defender Luke Fleurs, but only at the end of the season.

Matthews told SABC Sport that they have received three offers for Fleurs with Kaizer Chiefs, long-time admires of the 22year-old understood to be one of those teams.

United has always had a clear model when it comes to selling and retention of players and has made close to R50-million in the last two to three years in the transfer deals between them and their neighbours Mamelodi Sundowns.

Matthews says they can only sell Fleurs at the end of the season.

“I’ve indicated to both parties and the overseas club that we will prefer to do a preview on Luke, I don’t really wanna lose him for the last 18 games of the season,’ said Mathews.

“I’ve got a stable squad that’s got an opportunity to finish in the top 4 for the first time in ten years, and Luke [ Fleurs] gives us tremendous stability at the back where I don’t have to worry.

“Besides, Siyabonga Nhlapho and Keegan Johannes who are also versatile they can play right-back, they can play center-back, but Luke is a specialist at the back."

"And if something happens to [Thulani] Hlatshwayo over this time I cant afford to be without Luke and if Luke goes to another club I have to replace him, I cannot just say I will run with one less center-back its not gonna work for me for 18 games.”

“So there is more involved around Luke and I’m gonna have to be very difficult with whoever wants Luke in this January window, its not gonna be easy for them but if they want  a deal for July I’m prepared to be flexible because I get what I want and they get what they want at the end."

"So we will see the transfer market is dynamic, it moves and things happen and change.”
