Vilakazi was speaking to the media after going down 2-0 to serious league title contenders Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium last night.
Until they conceded the first goal in the 74th minute, the Chilli Boys had put up a brave fight, but they remain bottom of the log with only seven points from 13 matches.
Vilakazi is not even thinking about relegation...
"I know that it's unfortunate that I always join the teams who are fighting relegation, and I'm expected to perform a miracle, but I maintain what I said when I first arrived at Chippa, and I said that Chippa United will never go down.
"The reason why I'm saying that is because of the potential in these players. Obviously, we also needed to align their psychological approach and belief in themselves."
This was Vilakazi’s third game in charge of Chippa this season, and his latest record reads two losses and a draw, with six goals conceded.
He believes that there’s some improvement in how the team is playing at the moment.
Given that Vilakazi’s predecessors this season, Sinethemba Badela and Luc Eymael, have lamented the lack of depth in the Chippa squad, Vilakazi was also asked whether he would be strengthening the team and which areas need focus.
But the former Golden Arrows and Richards Bay head coach thinks otherwise
"I'm not worried about the transfer window. When I took the assignment on, I knew what I was getting into. Fortunately, I've worked with approximately half the team before so I'm confident that the squad can survive. I'm happy and comfortable with the players we have."
Chippa have the worst defensive record so far this season, having conceded 21 goals in just 13 matches. Vilakazi says he’s not responsible for what happened before he joined the team, but is now focused on what he can do to turn the team's fortunes around.
