Chiefs’ DStv Diski Challange side depart for England this evening as part of their prize of being crowned reserve league champions last season.
The tour will see them visit the likes of Manchester United, Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers, which Sheppard says will go a long way in shaping the player’s future careers while making memories of lifetime.
"Firstly, the most important thing is gaining experience and learning about different cultures. Its raining and its cold so its going to be a completely different experience.
"To visit the likes of Carrington, Old Trafford and the Etihad Stadium is a valuable experience that's going to create memories forever."
Chiefs will play against the U21 teams of Man United, Leeds and QPR, with the former Bafana Bafana winger relishing the opportunity to test themselves against top international opposition.
"Our first game is against Manchester United, then we'll face Leeds followed by a trip to London to face QPR. All of these clubs are steeped in history and renowned for producing excellent talent, and then there is of course the South African connection at Leeds."
Chiefs’ sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr adds that this is an experience of a lifetime for their youngsters and they stand to benefit greatly from this trip.
SA U20 international striker Naledi Hlongwane, whose goals were key in Chiefs’ DDC triumph, has already been to Holland, where the Amakhosi first team spent their pre-season.
After missing out on the U20 AFCON in Egypt earlier this year, he’s relishing the opportunity to play against top-level youngsters.
"I'm grateful for everything that's been happening in my life. I thank the man above for helping me out because in the space of a year, I spent time with the first team, went to AFCON although I couldn't play, we won the league as well, so 2025 has really been a good year for me and this team.
"For many youngsters, their dream is to be here, so you have to remain grateful and continue giving your all."
