Victor Osimhen nominated for 2022/2023 men's African Player of the Year award

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been nominated for the 2022/2023 men's African Player of the Year award.

The 24-year-old Nigerian frontman has six goals in 10 appearances for his Serie A side this season.

Last term the prolific goalscorer netted 31 goals in 39 games in all competitions as Napoli won the Italian top-flight.

He was also the top scorer in 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying with 10 goals.

Osimhen is one of 30 nominees named on Wednesday alongside Morocco stars Yassine Bounou, Achraf Hakimi, Sofyan Amrabat, Hakim Ziyech and Youssef en Nesyri.

Sadio Mane of Senegal and Mohamed Salah of Egypt have also been nominated.

The awards ceremony will take place in Morococo on Monday, December 11.
