'We need to improve' - Hojlund hits back at Allegri after Napoli's Champions League humiliation

Rasmus Hojlund has publicly disagreed with Massimiliano Allegri's assessment of Napoli's performance after their 4-1 Champions League defeat to FC Porto, insisting the Italian side must take greater responsibility for their poor form.

Allegri attempted to defend his injury-hit squad after Wednesday's heavy defeat, pointing to the lack of experienced options available from the bench and costly defensive mistakes, particularly from set-pieces.

However, Hojlund was far less forgiving, making it clear that he was unhappy with the manager's assessment of the performance.

"We need to improve. We are going through a bad patch in the season. We all need to work harder. I don't agree with Allegri's assessment of the performance. We didn't play well," the Danish striker told Prime Video.

Hojlund also highlighted Napoli's problems in front of goal and their defensive weaknesses, insisting the team must find a way to stop giving away cheap goals.

"We need to score more goals, and we have to stop conceding poor goals. We have lost too many matches so far," he added.

The striker admitted he was both disappointed and angry with Napoli's situation, calling on everyone at the club to examine their contribution to the team's struggles.

"I am disappointed and angry. We all need to take a good look at ourselves in the mirror. And that doesn't just apply to the players. Everyone at the club needs to take responsibility," Hojlund said.
