Stadium Management South Africa CEO Bertie Grobbelaar confirmed this earlier today, as he also revealed that currently ticket allocation is set at 45,000 but could be increased to 60,000 by tomorrow at noon.
With today being payday for some people, the rush for the ticket sales could change drastically in the next few days, and Grobbelaar says this is what they are anticipating...
"We presented two plans for this match, an allocation of 45,000 and 60,000. Safety and security always comes first, but you have to balance that with the commercial aspects that go into the planning of this event.
"If we decide on the 60,000 planned capacity, there is a R500 000 difference in cost," explained Grobbelaar.
Grobbelaar says the issue of ticket location will also have a bearing on whether there will be ticket sales at the match venue on the day of the game.
With some players having given some rave reviews about the FNB stadium’s new pitch, Grobbelaar says football fans should brace themselves for an even more improved pitch at the Calabash this week.
"It is spring, so the shade line is definitely moving. You can judge this pitch in relation to the others, and quickly notice the improvement.
"This morning I strolled across the pitch, and I'm really happy with what I've seen."
