Tuchel credits Kane and Bellingham’s overseas careers for raising England’s game

England national team head coach Thomas Tuchel says that when two of their leading players - captain Harry Kane and top midfielder Jude Bellingham moved away from the English Premier League and joined big clubs like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, it helped shape their mentality.

Ahead of tonight’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal against Norway in Miami, these are the two players who will be key in this game, and their level of competitiveness brings a different dimension to the game.

Taking nothing away from players in the EPL, Tuchel says the mindset in these big clubs and leagues helps with the competitiveness...

With six goals in this tournament, captain and leading striker Harry Kane has carried his country as he’s always has, and Tuchel is running out of superlatives to describe him.

"A club like Bayern Munich for example shapes your mentality. The club has this mentality of accepting nothing else but the best. The same goes for a lot of my players playing for these top clubs. There are no excuses."

England has always had a dominant record against Norway, seeing that in their past 12 meetings, they’ve had seven wins, just two losses, and three draws.

However, Kane knows very well that the World Cup is a different ball game and the Scandinavian country is highly motivated after eliminating the record five-time champions Brazil...

"We are going to have to be at our best for sure. They are a really good team that have shown how dangerous they can be over the last few years and especially in the World Cup. From our point of view, we just need to be at our very best."
