Siwelele closing in on candidates to replace Lehlohonolo Seema

SABC Sport understands French coach Alexander Lafittee is among those to have emerged as a leading candidate, with discussions having taken place as Siwelele weigh up their options.

Lafitte was introduced to the Betway Premiership last season when he joined Marumo Gallants, but his stint in South Africa was cut short after he was suspended by the club for apparent insubordination.

The Frenchman has now resurfaced on Siwelele’s radar as the club considers making another change in the dugout.

Godfrey Mosoetsa has taken interim charge following Seema’s departure, with the reserve league coach stepping up to oversee the first team. However, Mosoetsa made it clear after Wednesday night’s 3-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns that he has no interest in taking the position permanently.

Siwelele are also exploring local options, with the club holding discussions with coaches who have experience of the South African game. However, information suggests Lafitte is currently leading the race.

The immediate priority is Sunday’s Betway Premiership clash against Golden Arrows at Free State Stadium.

With the international break approaching, it remains possible that Mosoetsa will continue to hold the fort for that fixture before Siwelele make a final decision on Seema’s successor.

The club will be hoping to have greater clarity soon, having won just two points from their opening five league matches.
