Rulani Mokwena admits Mamelodi Sundowns not at their best

Following their narrow 1-0 DStv Premiership win over Cape Town Spurs on Tuesday night, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena admitted his side were still not playing at their full potential.

A penalty from striker Lucas Ribeiro was enough to give The Brazilians all three points to guarantee they continue to stretch the gap at the summit.

However, Mokwena wasn’t that impressed with the overall display.

''We are lacking a little bit of confidence at the moment, especially in the attacking schemes, we are struggling a bit. But okay, every team has these phases every season and the positive is that when we go through a difficult period like this we are still able to grind the results,'' said Mokwena.

Mokwena still gave Sundowns credit for grinding out a result against a Spurs side he believes are no slouches despite being bottom of the table with seven games to go.

''A lot of the big teams struggle to beat Spurs, I'm just very happy that we have taken 6 points from a very difficult team,'' added Mokwena.

Sundowns have only scored more than two goals once in their previous four league matches, and this is why Mokwena is concerned.

''A draw is a fair reflection of the result, but these are the type of games champions we win. Where we are not so strong but get the job done'' he concluded.

Mokwena believes he could have made better substitutions to ensure they were in a lot more control of the game.
