Richards Bay trip a banana peel for SuperSport United

SuperSport United assistant coach Andre Arendse, feels their trip to Richards Bay for the Nedbank Cup round of 16 clash on Saturday afternoon is a potential banana skin.

The last time the two sides met in December prior to the AFCON it was the Natal Rich Boys who were emphatic 3-1 winners.

Arendse admits the KZN outfit are a tough team to break down, especially in front of their home supporters.

''The Richards Bay trip is not going to be an easy one. And you're quite right it was one to forget, the last strip.

"We must not underestimate the home support they get there, they are so much behind them. That for me is important to try to understand in this particular game,'' said Arendse.

Another threat the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper feels Richards Bay pose is their ability to provoke and intimidate opponents.

''Of course there's opposition analysis and you have to make sure that you spend time on opposition analysis,'' added Arendse.

Arendse says they don’t want to spend too much time over analysing the team that is being coached by Vusumuzi Vilakazi.

''Yes the games are coming in thick and fast, we don't get a lot of time to focus. We're coming in and out, traveling to games,'' said Arendse.

Despite being one of the relegation candidates in the DStv Premiership currently as they are second from bottom, Arendse admits he often wonders how a side with a good blend of youth and experience is struggling.

''They have got some quality in that team, when I look at the way they play -  I'm thinking how are they in the league table where they are?

''We have to be careful  about that and we have to work out how we put a team against our opponents,'' he concluded.
