Richards Bay coach sends strong warning to doubters

Richards Bay FC coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi warns that people haven’t seen anything yet when it comes to his coaching.

Vilakazi was talking to the media after their 1-0 victory against Kaizer Chiefs at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Vilakazi is on the verge of saving the Natal Rich Boys from automatic relegation and says he’s courageous enough to keep the team in the topflight.

"I think I'm brave enough to accept the challenge that I was given by the chairman and also him trusting with saving the clubs status and saying, this young coach will be able to save us. So, I think the braveness that I have and being able to take on challenges is no childs play and there are coaches who are older than me but will never take this job if they see that the ship is sinking. So, I think being brave and believing in myself, I still say this is the best of Kanu, people are yet to see Kanu as a coach," Vilakazi said.

The Natal Rich Boys will face Cape Town Spurs next weekend, a win might put them in a good position to even survive promotion playoffs.

Vilakazi says their focus is to eliminate Spurs.

"We are playing, we are fighting because we want to make sure that Cape Town Spurs does not catch up to us but as I said mathematically we can still achieve something but let's focus on this one of making sure that when we play them we beat them so that we know that we forget about Cape Town Spurs and we focus on competing with teams that are above us, incase they're sleeping," Vilakazi added.

Vilakazi is one of the young coaches, who have done a stellar job in producing top players. The likes of Nkosinathi Sibisi, Thabani Zuke and Sfiso Mlungwana got professional debuts under him at Golden Arrows.

He shares that as motivated as they are ahead of Cape Town Spurs next weekend, Vilakazi does not want to be too excited and think they are already completely out of the relegation zone but wants his players to remain focused on their main target.

"We are motivated by the challenge we're going to have against Cape Town Spurs, firstly because we'll definitely not be relegated and also looking at the bigger picture as well but I don't want us to mix things because we might lose focus.

“If you target two things at the same time we might lose both of them. So, right now we'll take it one game at a time and when we get the three points then we'll know that we're not gonna be relagated let's now focus on the few games that are left in terms of finding Swallows if we can, so we will definitely chase them."
