TS Galaxy thump Chippa Utd to keep top-eight hopes alive

TS Galaxy kept their slim top-eight hopes alive as they found their goalscoring touch in a 4-0 demolition job of Chippa United at the Mbombela Stadium.

While the victory still leaves the Rockets in 10th place on the table, another win on the final day of the season could see them secure a top-eight finish if other results go their way.

Kamogelo Sebelebele put Galaxy in the pound seats with goals on either side of half-time, while a tired Chippa would concede two further goals in the closing minutes of the match.

Midfielder Ebrahim Seedat first provided the assist for Masilakhe Phohlongo to make it three before also playing provider for Nkosikhona Radebe, who rubbed salt in the wounds with a fourth in injury time.

TS Galaxy will travel to Stellenbosch for their final game of the season, while Chippa host Golden Arrows.

Ten-men Cape Town City still too good for Richards Bay

Cape Town City set up an exciting battle with Kaizer Chiefs next weekend after surviving a second-half red card to dispatch struggling Richards Bay 2-0 at the Athlone Stadium.

Not even the 62nd-minute sending-off of Lorenzo Gordinho could spoil the Citizens' day, and in fact, the second of their two goals came after the defender had left the pitch.

Khanyisa Mayo had given City the lead early in the second half after a header assist from Taariq Fielies, but disaster struck not long after when Gordinho was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

However, City stayed strong and doubled their lead 10 minutes from time when Mayo grabbed a well-deserved brace to secure all three points and give his side a chance of grabbing fourth place away from Kaizer Chiefs when the two teams meet in a mouthwatering match-up next weekend.

For Richards Bay, their miserable finish to the season continues. The men from KwaZulu-Natal haven't had a victory in the league since January and look like they will finish their campaign fortunate to avoid relegation, having dropped all the way down to 13th place from a high of second on the table at the start of the year.
