PSL round-up: Chippa shoot down Richards Bay, Sekhukhune see off Royal AM

Chippa United compounded Richards Bay's relegation struggles at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium while Sekhukhune United saw off Royal AM in Polokwane.

Chippa cut 10-man Richards Bay down to size

Chippa United broke a four-match winless streak with a 3-0 victory over Richards Bay FC at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Richards Bay remain in 15th and now just two points above bottom side Cape Town Spurs. Meanwhile, Chippa move up to 10th on the DStv Premiership standings.

The Chilli Boys made just one change with Bienvenu Eva Nga introduced into the starting lineup, while the Natal Rich Boyz made four alterations as Jackson Mabokgwane, Abel Mabaso, Somila Ntsundwana and Abdi Banda came into the side.

Chippa got off the perfect start when they took the lead with seven minutes gone via defender Justice Chabalala with a header from Malebogo Modise's cross.

The Chilli Boys doubled their lead five minutes later through Craig Martin, with a clinical finish into the bottom corner.

The hosts were well on top and the visitors' worries were compounded when goalkeeper Mabokgwane picked up and injury and had to be replaced ten minutes before half-time.

Richards Bay were reduced to ten men in the 55th minute when Banda was shown a straight red card as Chippa wrapped up the victory in the 76th minute when Kayden Francis finished in the box from Elton Kambindu's through ball.

Sekhukhune see off Royal AM in Polokwane

Sekhukhune United only needed a single strike to see off Royal AM with a 1-0 victory in a PSL clash played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The only goal of the game came after 12 minutes when Maloisane Mokhele found the back of the net for the home side.

The loss means Royal AM remain 13th in the league standings, nine points ahead of the second from bottom position.

Sekhukhune registered their eighth league victory of the campaign and have now amassed 27 points after 18 matches to sit in seven place.
