Roma's hierarchy have been reluctant to enter talks, in part because of the player's injury history and salary expectations, according to multiple reports.
Dybala, 32, joined Roma from Juventus in 2022 and has emerged as one of the club's most talented attackers. In his career with Roma he has scored 32 goals and provided 19 assists in around 90 appearances across all competitions.
However, this season has been a struggle in front of goal. In the 2025â26 Serie A campaign so far he has just one league goal and one assist in 12 appearances, a modest return compared to his earlier years at the club.
Roma's manager Gian Piero Gasperini spoke warmly of Dybala after their recent 3-1 win over Genoa, saying: "When he's fit, he plays because we don't have other players of his quality." Gasperini added: "When he's fit and we can produce attacking play like this, everything is easier."
Despite the manager's praise, club officials have made it clear they are not ready to renegotiate terms yet. The Giallorossi are reportedly cautious about handing Dybala a longâterm commitment given his injury record and the financial impact of an expensive deal.
Dybala has publicly signalled he wants to stay at Roma and is open to adjusting his wage demands to make a new deal work, but formal talks have stalled.
Roma currently sit in fourth place in Serie A, and with the winter transfer window approaching, Dybala's contract situation is now one of the key talking points at the Stadio Olimpico.
