No regrets as Knox Mutizwa embraces Richards Bay chapter

New Richards Bay striker Knox Mutizwa says he has no regrets about how his career has unfolded, even if some have labelled him a journeyman.

The Zimbabwean international parted ways with Golden Arrows under a cloud last month despite cementing his place in the club’s history books as their all-time top goal scorer with more than 60 goals.

Now 31, Mutizwa insists that football is about embracing circumstances as they come, and players should make the best of the opportunities presented to them rather than dwell on the past.

"I know how I left Golden Arrows, but what I can say is that it's football – we move on and I'm just grateful for the opportunity that Richards Bay gave me," said Mutizwa.

"And, for me personally, I think I scored enough goals to be up there and it's not nice to be moving from one club to another, but as life goes, anything can happen at any day.

"So just be grateful to wake up and get a job, and be grateful to the people that gave you the job."

Mutizwa added that he was unfazed by any of the circumstances that led to him parting ways with any of his previous employers, including the now-defunct Bidvest Wits several years ago.

"With those ups and downs, I just wake up in the morning and pray – I have a job, but someone out there doesn't have a job, and I have the opportunity again to go and showcase my talent, so I'm grateful," he insisted.

"That's why you see everyday you can't distract me, and that's why every time I keep on going, and I will keep on going again."
