All is not lost, with The Rockets in with a chance for rare silverware after all the heavyweights were eliminated early on.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Nedbank Cup semifinal against Milford FC in KwaMhlanga, the midfielder expects a far sharper performance from Galaxy.
"The previous match that we had against Orlando Pirates was a very learning curve for us not to relax on the games that we are playing. So, the coaches told us that we must forget about the previous game and focus on the Milford game,” Mvelase said.
“So, we are going there to win the game, I don't think the preparation is for maybe not winning the game. Definitely our aim is to go to the finals."
Mvelase added that Galaxy are not favourites, especially considering Milford are currently log leaders in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
"We might go back and say, Casric beat Pirates, Milford beat Sekhukhune [United], Pirates beat us 6-0, so we must know where our aim is. Our aim is to win the cup, it's not to go and underestimate Milford because where they are now is not by chance, it's by their hard work. So, we are also going there to fight to win the match,” he added.
