Milford edged Cape Town City 1-0 at Athlone Stadium on Tuesday afternoon in the opening match of the mini-league to immediately move to the top of the table with three points.
Pupuma says the result gives Milford a solid platform as they prepare for clashes against Magesi FC and the return leg against City at home in the coming days.
"Getting three points away is a very big plus, but it doesn't mean automatically we are guaranteed the points at home," said Pupuma.
"However, we know it's in Umhlathuze, where we train, sleep and eat, so we are going to make it very, very difficult for the teams that are going to come in there, Magesi and Cape Town City."
The Stallions arrived in Cape Town in strong form after winning three of their last four Motsepe Foundation Championship matches that secured third place and qualification for the Playoffs.
Pupuma believes carrying momentum from the closing stages of the season has played an important role in the team’s positive start to the mini-league.
"Just going through the season itself, we had some good runs and then we'd lose the plot a little bit, might be the distraction from the [Nedbank] Cup or whatever," he added.
"I feel that when we went to Upington, we were already catching up on the good run, which I think today was a continuation of that, where the guys realise what we can achieve and how close we are in achieving what we want to achieve."
