Miche Minnies grateful for full recovery after long-term injury

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies striker Miche Minnies says she is grateful for her full recovery from a long-term injury.

Minnies was ruled out of Sundowns squad for two months, due to an ankle injury.

She came off on a stretcher during match-day two of the Hollywoodbets Super League against Ma-indies.

The Sundowns forward attributes her recovery to her support system, pledging to thank them on the field.

"I was really on an injury that kept me out for months, I told myself that I want to come back and help the team achieve everything we want. Also, my family and partner were there for me every step of the way towards recovery. Also, I went on my knees every day and asked God to help me through that time and give me the power to come back," Minnies said.

The 22-year-old forward has seen herself into full recovery with the help of the Sundowns medical team.

This past weekend, she returned with an incredible hattrick when coach Jerry Tshabalala’s charges won 7 - 0 against newcomers Lindelani Ladies.

"The hattrick was just an icing on the cake that was dedicated to my mommy that passed away a few years ago but it was most important to help the team as well. I couldn't have done it without each and everyone on the team," Minnies added.

A total of 175 goals have been scored this season in the Hollywoodbets Super

League, with Copperbelt’s Thandi Rameri, TS Galaxy’s Busisiwe Ndimeni and

Minnies as top goal-scorers.

Minnies says she draws a lot of inspiration from the Sundowns senior players, which made it much bearable to overcome her hurdles.

"To be honest all the senior players with a lot of experience in the team, they always push me and say that I will reach my goals if I work hard. I wouldn't have gotten through my injury without their help and commitment but also I need all the other players and coaches help on and off the field. Each and everyone in the team is inspirational to me."
