Marcus Rashford set for Man Utd return as pre-season begins

Marcus Rashford is set to rejoin Manchester United for their pre-season preparations as uncertainty continues over his long-term future at Old Trafford.

The England forward will report back after enjoying a mandatory three-week break following England's run to the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals. With no transfer agreement in place, Rashford is expected to link up with Michael Carrick's squad for a six-day training camp in Dublin.

United's pre-season schedule begins with a match against Rosenborg in Trondheim on July 24 before the Red Devils travel to Sweden to face Atletico Madrid in Stockholm and Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg.

The tour will then continue in Ireland, where they will meet old rivals Leeds United at Croke Park on August 12, before concluding preparations in Poland ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Carrick is still waiting for several senior players to return from international duty, with those involved in the World Cup being given time off before joining the squad.

Rashford's future remains one of the biggest talking points at the club. Barcelona decided not to activate the option to make his loan move permanent, while a reported Premier League release clause worth 40 million pounds expired earlier this month without being triggered.

Despite ongoing speculation over a possible move away from United, Rashford is ready to work under Carrick if no suitable transfer materialises. The forward's relationship with former manager Ruben Amorim had reportedly broken down before the end of last season, but Carrick is expected to assess the player during pre-season.
