Sapula’s team have been the champions in the ladies top league for the past six seasons, and will be looking to extend that dominance in a much-changed format of the competition.
The former midfielder for their men’s team says winning is a lifestyle for them, and they will not want to deviate from what they have built for so many years.
Sundowns face a relatively unknown Diepkloof Ladies in their first match this coming weekend, who have been promoted from the Sasol League.
Sapula says it’s not a concern for them to play a potential banana peel at UJ Soweto Campus, and added that they prepare the same for every team they face.
"For us as defending Champions we have to be ready for anything. We have to be ready for strong competition from all the teams and we are not going to underestimate anyone. We have our own targets, and one of our targets right now is to win every football match."
He also says it’s important to stay hungry and try to improve every year, not only as a club but also for the players as individuals. He believes that’s the only way to make sure they stay ahead of the competition every season.
"We are not changing anything, actually, we want to do even better and we are hungrier to make sure that we defend the league. One way to do that is to make sure that you keep increasing the bar so that you can beat your own targets and create other bigger targets in the process."
