Makgopa relishing his second AFCON appearance

Bafana Bafana striker Evidence Makgopa is beaming about his participation at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco, and says he’s living his dream.

Makgopa is one of only nine players in the current Bafana squad, who were at the last tournament in Ivory Coast, when the country returned with a bronze medal.

Together with Lyle Foster, the Orlando Pirates marksman are the leading strikers of coach Hugo Broos’ team. He takes being part of this team very seriously...

"I'm living my dream, and that's what matters the most right now. Other players would've liked to be here, so I'm happy to be in Morocco."

It was an unusual Christmas Day yesterday as Bafana were back on the field for the first time on Agadir soil, preparing for their clash against Egypt. With Morocco a Muslim country, Christmas is not a special day in this area---and Makgopa says as professionals they get used to these situations...

Makgopa was part of the previous AFCON campaign in the Ivory Coast, where they lost their opening game to Mali. He’s drawing some inspiration from having started this year’s tournament with a win...
