Lucky Fans have made huge impact during World Cup – McKenzie

Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie says the concept of the Lucky Fans has made a massive impact in the return on investment for Brand South Africa in this World Cup.

After bringing close to 40 fans to this tournament, McKenzie feels that this is a concept that will be continued for other sporting codes...

"To work out the return on investment and what these people have done for brand South Africa, you're going to need many calculators. Do you know that South Africa is the most loved team at this World Cup? Wherever we go these guys have made people feel our presence. Whoever is going to be the next minister one day should continue with this concept."

It was not just fans that McKenzie brought to the World Cup, but the journalists, artists, and people from the cultural sector, who made their way to the World Cup to maximize the popularity of Brand SA. McKenzie says the players have been impacted positively by this concept.

McKenzie even suggested that President Cyril Ramaphosa should seriously consider a public holiday after Bafana Bafana potentially defeat Canada tomorrow and advance to the round of 16 stage.

"President Ramaphosa, you're going to have to keep that pen nearby for the holiday. If we reach the round of 16 you must please give us a holiday President."
