The 66-year-old replaces Igor Tudor, dismissed after an eight-game winless run capped by a 1-0 defeat to Lazio. Interim boss Massimo Brambilla oversaw a morale-boosting 3-1 win over Udinese on Wednesday, lifting the team to seventh in Serie A, six points behind leaders Napoli.
Spalletti returns to management four months after being sacked as Italy coach following a 3-0 World Cup qualifying loss to Norway. He had led the Azzurri to Euro 2024 and famously guided Napoli to their first Serie A title in over 30 years in 2022-23.
Juventus said in a statement:
"We are delighted to welcome a coach with such expertise and experience to the Bianconeri family."
An experienced tactician, Spalletti has managed Roma, Inter Milan, Udinese, and Zenit St Petersburg, winning two Russian league titles with the latter. He will hold his first press conference on Friday before debuting against Cremonese on Saturday.
Juventus, without a Serie A title since 2020, have now appointed five different coaches since May 2024. Spalletti's immediate challenge will be to stabilize form and revive their Champions League hopes after a shaky start to the season.
