Liverpool left frustrated by in-form Fulham
Liverpool were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw with a determined Fulham side at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
Harry Wilson put the home side into a 17th minute lead, and it took until the 57th minute for Florin Wirtz to find a leveller.
Cody Gakpo thought he had sealed all three points when he scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time at the end of the game, but there was still time for Harrison Reed to find an equaliser with virtually the last kick of the game.
Liverpool had controlled much of the game but found themselves a goal down when Wilson fired in a precise shot from inside the penalty area, assisted by Raul Jimenez.
It needed a clinical finish from Wirtz to fire Liverpool back level, for his second goal of the season, set up by Conor Bradley.
After a lull in the match, the tie sprung to life in the final ten minutes, and Gakpo really thought his goal was enough, only for Reed to come off the bench and steal a point with a stunning drive.
The result left the Reds in fourth place with 34 points from 20 games, and Fulham in 11th place with 28 points.
Tottenham drop points at home to promoted Sunderland
Tottenham were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw against an in-form Sunderland in the Premier League on Sunday.
Ben Davies opened the scoring for Thomas Franks' charges on the half hour mark, but Brian Brobbey found an 80th minute equaliser for a share of the spoils.
The result left Spurs in 13th place on the league standings with 27 points from 20 games, and Regis Le Bris' Black Cats in eighth with 30 points.
The home team dominated the ball for large chunks of the first half, but both Pedro Porro and Richarlison were guilty of missing good opportunities.
A Spurs goal was inevitable though and Davies was well placed to direct the ball home after connecting to a Micky Van de Ven pass inside the area.
While the opening stanza was largely controlled by Spurs, the visitors were more progressive after the break, with Eliezer Mayenda not too far off an equaliser just after the restart.
Tottenham were by no means quiet in front of the goal and Davies should have done better after being set up by Porro, before Archie Gray fired a great chance wide on the hour mark.
But Sunderland made them pay for their prolificacy with a well-deserved leveller with just 10 minutes of the match remaining, as Brobbey fired in after a super pass from Enzo le Fee.
