Lehlohonolo Seema cautious in discussing top four finish

Sekhukhune United coach Lehlohonolo Seema was reluctant to discuss the possibility of ending the DStv Premiership in the top four with three games to go.

Following their 1-1 draw away to SuperSport United on Tuesday night, Seema was asked whether he felt Babina Noko were still in line with any of their targets for the 2023/24 season.

Although optimistic, Seema preferred to entertain talk of a CAF Confederation Cup spot on the final day of the campaign.

“I will talk about that later because from [positions] seven, six, and five, we are being hunted, so I can’t even talk about that, we’ll just see, maybe in the last game we’ll see how it is,” said Seema.

“But at the moment, it’s very tight. I don’t even know the results of the other teams, maybe we are not even there [in the running], so we just want to take it one game at a time.

“The derby is coming up - Polokwane City is a difficult one also, so we’re trying to take it one game at a time.”

Sekhukhune qualified for the continental competition last season on the back of being runners up in the Nedbank Cup after losing to Orlando Pirates.

Seema argues that booking a place in the Confederation Cup via the league standings has always been the ambition.

“The good thing that the club will be happy with is that we’ll be going there, if we manage to get that spot, after playing the marathon - the league, rather than maybe being the [Nedbank Cup] finalists, and then you have lost the final,” he noted.
